My Concerns Over EU’s Treatment of Hungary and the Ukraine Crisis

I read an article that Minister Péter Szijjártó voiced concerns over Brussels’ moves to sideline Hungary from EU decision-making, amid talks of advancing Article 7 against Hungary. He warned of potential consequences, urging voter participation in the upcoming EP elections to resist a pro-war agenda. Secretary Barna Pál Zsigmond echoed these concerns, emphasizing Hungary’s commitment to peace and the importance of maintaining its veto power within the EU. Both called for solidarity in preventing war and safeguarding national sovereignty.

In my opinion, Hungary should not place trust in Russia’s assurances regarding Ukraine, highlighting the need to support Ukraine. However, the EU’s move to strip Hungary of its voting rights is undemocratic. It’s crucial for the EU to address Hungary’s concerns, as such actions risk escalating tensions and potentially leading Europe into war. Sending soldiers to the region should be avoided altogether.

  1. Oh, so you think you can just sideline Hungary and expect no blowback? Think again. Minister Péter Szijjártó isn’t just blowing hot air—he’s calling out Brussels for trying to muzzle Hungary. Advancing Article 7 against Hungary? That’s a blatant power grab. They’re trying to strip Hungarians of their voting rights and control the narrative. It’s a shameless move to push their pro-war agenda and silence dissent.

Secretary Barna Pál Zsigmond is right to stress their commitment to peace. I don’t think Hungarians are pawns to be moved around on Brussels’ chessboard. Their veto power is crucial. Without it, they’re just rubber-stamping their decisions. Hungary stands for national sovereignty and against unnecessary wars. The EU better wake up and address their concerns before they push them all into a conflict nobody wants. Trusting Russia’s assurances is naive, yes, but stripping Hungarians of their rights? That’s undemocratic and dangerous.

Europe’s stability hangs in the balance, and Hungarians shoudln’t be bullied into submission. They must support Ukraine and ensure that soldiers aren’t sent into another unwinnable war. If Brussels doesn’t back down, they’ll find out the hard way just how resilient Hungary can be.
